Being Thankful Can Change Your Life (Rescript Your Life Series, 4)

There is an old adage that says, "Be thankful for what you've got." While that statement may not seem like a lot, it is packed full of truth. I know this to be true in my own life. Lately, I have been so preoccupied with my own problems and trials that I have not taken the time to stop and be thankful for the things that I have or what I have accomplished.

"Focusing on our problems only creates more problems and magnifies the problems we had to begin with." - Dr. Pinkey Stewart

As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, I ask you to STOP and take some time to be thankful for all that you have -- be it a little or a lot. Make a list of things that you are grateful for then read it everyday as a reminder. No matter where you are at this point in your life, dwelling on the negatives or things your life is lacking is never a good thing. To make life more enjoyable and to attract the things that you most desire in life, try being thankful for what you have and where you are at the present time (after all, it could be worse).

"Thanksgiving opens the windows of opportunity for ideas to flow your way.” -Jim Rohn

When we are genuinely thankful, it opens up windows of opportunity that may otherwise not have come our way. I remember a time when I had a part-time job, and needed a full-time position in order to move ahead financially. Each day, I thanked God for my new executive level position, yet I remained thankful for the part-time job I already had. Within 21 days, I had an offer for a full-time position; a few days later the job I really wanted came through. Such a dilemma to have. Since I had accepted the first offer, I declined the job I really wanted. As a result of that decision, I was promoted to a higher level position in the company two weeks after I was hired! A year later, I was promoted to an even higher position. I may not have received those blessings if I had not been thankful for what I already had. Remember to be humble, remain grateful, and always be thankful.
